Dr. Roberta Ervine is a graduate of Columbia University’s Armenian Studies Program, where she was a student of Prof. Nina Garsoïan. Her doctoral research was carried out in Jerusalem under the supervision of the late Abp. Norayr Bogharian, curator of manuscripts for the Monastery of Sts. James. After receiving her doctorate, her tutorial study with Abp. Bogharian continued until his death in 1996.
Roberta taught Classical Armenian and Armenian History in the Srbots‘ T‘argmanch‘ats‘ School of Jerusalem’s Armenian Patriarchate from 1981-1995. From 1995-2001 she lectured in Armenian Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. At present she is Professor of Armenian Christian Studies at St. Nersess Armenian Seminary in Armonk, New York. Her primary interests are in the history of the Armenians in Jerusalem, and in medieval Armenian literature and spirituality.
