Ara Madzounian is a Los Angeles-based independent producer, director and cinematographer, with various projects to his credits in fiction, documentary, educational videos and television commercials. Heholds a BA and MFA in Film & Television from UCLA. At various educational institutions, Madzounianhas taught World Cinema, Soviet and Post-Soviet Armenian Cinema, Introduction to Photography, and has served as Graduate Teaching Assistant in Acting for Camera, Theater Lighting, and Directing Fundamentals. 

Madzounian’s creative output includes a decades-long collaboration with Vahe Berberian, including writing The Pink Elephant, Quicksand, and Baron Garbis and performing in them.

As a filmmaker, Madzounian has produced, directed and edited The House on Tomarza Street (2026), Master Eddy (2021), Land without Graves (1993), and Pagakidz (1996). He has served as cinematographer on Final Cutz (2019), Vahe Oshagan: Between Acts (2016), Berserkers (2014) and Chickpeas (1992). In 2017, he self-published Birds Nest, A Photographic Essay of Bourj Hammoud.
